Dhankar Lake is a high altitude lake in Spiti Valley, in the Himachal Pradesh state
of India. At an elevation of 4,140 meters (13,580 ft), it lies above the Dhankar
monastery in the Lahaul & Spiti district, and can be approached by a trek from the
monastery. Dhankar Monastery situated at an altitude of 12,774 feet, above the
Dhankar Village, right at the wondrous confluence of Pin and Spiti rivers. The main
attractions of the Dhankar Monastery are the brilliant wall murals depicting the life of
the Buddha and the four-figured statues of the Dhyani Buddha, seated back to back.
