Gobind Sagar :-

Gobind Sagar is a man-made reservoir situated in Bilaspur District of Himachal
Pradesh. The lake is named in honor of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and last guru of
Sikhs. Gobind Sagar Lake over the Sutlej River is a huge reservoir and is the result of
Bhakra Nangal, the world’s second highest gravity dam. It is a major landmark of
Bilaspur District. It covers an area of 170 sq km and its length extends up to 90 km.
This reservoir is one of the largest man-made lakes in India. Average surface area of
this reservoir is 10,000 hectare. It was constructed for hydropower generation,
irrigation and flood control during early
years of independence.

Apricot, Neem, etc.
Animal species: Sambar, Barking deer and Red Jungle Fowl, Panther, Wolf,
Chausinga, Hyena, Sloth bear, Nilgai, Chinkara and Wild Boar.
Fish species: Mahaseer, Carp Catla, Mrigal, Rohu, etc.
